ATLANTA – Credit unions are the best when it comes to customer service, according to Consumer Reports National Research Center, which recently released a report on the best and worst industries and companies for customer service.
The results are based on surveys collected within the past three years, where 22 industries were scored on a scale from zero to 100. The credit union industry topped the list with a score of 90.
As not-for-profit institutions, credit unions are member-owned and driven by service, not by profits. They consistently rank higher in customer satisfaction surveys than for-profit financial institutions, and now sit at the top of the list for customer service among all industries.
Credit unions exist to help members afford life rather than to funnel profits to shareholders. Therefore, credit union members benefit from fewer fees, lower interest rates on loans, higher returns on savings, and of course, unmatched customer service.
