Establish a separate account for non-necessities.
Set aside a certain amount of money each month that you plan to spend on splurges. Once you’ve decided how much money you want to spend each month on non-essential purchases, set up a different checking account with those funds. Consider having your credit union transfer the funds automatically. This will help you manage how much money is necessary for living expenses and how much you have to play with each month.
