HPAL Tip of the Week: Switch to Cold Water, Lower Your Power Bill
To reduce energy and save money on the power bill, change the setting on your washing machine. Heating water consumes about 90 percent of the energy it takes to operate a washing machine. Switching your temperature setting from hot to warm can cut energy use in half. Using the cold cycle reduces energy use even more.
